Tibetan Homes wins Carbery Memorial Football Tournament-2010

This year, the 26th Carbery Memorial Sub-Junior Football Tournament began on the grounds of St. Jude’s school with 33 teams participating in it.

The Final match was played on the 14th of August between the Tibetan Homes School, winner of the last year’s tournament, and Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie.

In the mostly one-sided match, Tibetan Homes dominated right from the beginning, not letting the rival team play comfortably. Pema Thondup, from Tibetan Homes scored two goals, one in each half and helped his school lift this year’s trophy also.

The trophy was presented by the Chief Guest, Philip Barret, Deputy Head Master.

Carman wins Football Tournament

It has been a good start to the football season by Carman School Dalanwala, who lifted the prestigious 24^th Joshi Memorial Six-a-Side Football Tournament organized at Mussoorie. The result of the final match was decided in a penalty shootout, where Carman school out-classed Mussoorie Modern School by 2-1.

Spectators saw a close contest, as both the teams had prepared well for finals. Carman school took an early lead in the match when one of its forwards converted the scoring opportunity into a goal, helping his team take an early lead in the match.

It was a hard chase for Mussoorie Modern School, who managed an equalizer with great difficulty. In the end Carman School triumphed over Mussoorie Model in a penalty shootout.

This is the first time Carman School has won this tournament; previous year the team had reached the quarterfinal stage.

The tournament is going on for the last twenty four years and has grown in popularity in schools. This year around 44 teams had participated in the tournament.

School closes for Holidays
